Police in Gisborne have arrested a 22-year-old man and charged him with robbing a bank in the main street.
At 10.30am on Thursday, a man walked into the ANZ bank in Gladstone Road with a knife and demanded money from a teller.
He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police chased a car which crashed at an intersection about 1km from the bank.
Police say the man has been remanded in custody and will appear in Gisborne District Court on Friday.
