Rail station upgrade for Tawa

6:09 am on 23 January 2010

An upgrade to Redwood Station in the Wellington suburb of Tawa, costing more than $1 million, will begin next month.

KiwiRail says the work will close the stations for up to four months and is part of the $500m upgrade to the capital's rail network.

When finished, the station will have two new 170-metre long platforms and a number of new safety features.

Commuters are being advised to use the adjacent Takapu Road and Tawa Stations while the improvements are under way.
