Police have halted a search of the Manawatu River, sparked after an empty dinghy was found floating downstream on Saturday morning.
Several kayakers and a helicopter have been scouring the river after the primarily white dinghy, complete with oars, was found about 10.20am.
Police say they found no signs of anything untoward, and they now think that the dinghy may have been empty when it was cast adrift on the river.
And as there have been no reports of people missing in that area, they have decided to put a 24-hour hold on the search.
