Hutt River safe for swimmers again

5:34 pm on 27 January 2010

Wellington Regional Council says parts of the Hutt River affected by the E.coli bacteria are safe to swim in again.

Warning signs telling people to stay out of the river near Akatarawa Road and Gemstone Drive have been removed.

The area was closed last week when tests found unacceptably high levels of E.coli.

The council says it was unable to identify the source of contamination.
