A woman was trapped in her car when it rolled on State Highway 2 in Bay of Plenty.
The incident happened between Katikati and Waihi, near the Athenree Gorge, just after 8am on Saturday.
The fire service said the woman was in critical condition.
North-bound traffic was being diverted through Waihi Beach.
