Fears mount for safety of missing Nelson man

5:33 am on 1 February 2010

There are fears for the safety of a man who went missing from a flat in Nelson in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

Extensive searches by family and the police have failed to turn up any sign of Leo Lipp-Neighbours, whose bank account and cellphone haven't been touched since his disappearance.

Mr Lipp-Neighbours, 19, went in his car to get food in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

There have been no confirmed sightings of him since then.

More than 30 family and friends have been searching the upper South Island by car and helicopter to find him.

Senior Constable Dave Colville says while he and the family are getting worried, there are no clues to suggest foul play at this stage.

He urged the public to report any sightings of Mr Lipp-Neighbours himself or his distinctive orange Toyota Corolla station wagon.
