A Gisborne woman is still in hospital after needing surgery following an attack by a dog in the city on Saturday.
Police say she was a bystander at a dispute between two men at a house in the city, when a Neopolitan mastiff dog got involved.
She was bitten on the face, forearms and abdomen and needed surgery for a lacerations to her arm.
The hospital say she is in a stable condition and recovering well.
Police say the dog also bit its owner.
The dog is in the custody of the council's animal control unit.
