A Port Waikato man is now off the critical list in Greenlane hospital after being stabbed with a patu, a traditional Maori club, in a fight on Tuesday night.
The patu is a club used in hand-to-hand combat.
The man, 34, was stabbed in the chest. He also has head and eye injuries. His condition is now described as stable.
Two men appeared in the Pukekohe District Court on Wednesday charged with assault. Another person, aged 15, appeared in the Youth Court.
