Sixty-year-old's Cook Strait swim bid postponed

8:44 pm on 6 February 2010

Sixty-year-old Whakatane swimmer Mike Bodger wasn't able to swim Cook Strait as planned on Saturday because of concerns about the weather.

Mr Bodger says the swim was called off when a high-pressure system was detected over Wellington. It could have brought bad weather to the strait area.

He says he's not disappointed, because he has given himself a five-day window to do the swim, which he will probably now do on Monday or Tuesday.
