The Auckland Transition Agency has announced that Michelle Boag will withdraw from her recruitment role for the new Auckland super-city.
The former National Party president was one of 12 employees from the recruitment agency Momentum contracted to recruit staff.
But the agency says recent political criticism of Ms Boag's involvement in the process, is causing unnecessary distraction.
The Auckland super-council comes into being on 1 November.
