Police say they have had a positive sighting of an intellectually disabled woman missing in Auckland since Saturday, but have not yet been able to locate her.

Francis Manufui, 47, of Te Atatu, was identified by a member of the public about 8am on Tuesday on Jervois Road in the suburb of Ponsonby.

Officers were sent to the area, but could not find the woman who has a mental age of a 10-year-old.

However, a police spokesperson says they are encouraged by the sighting and are asking residents to report any further information on Ms Manufui's whereabouts.

Ms Manufui is described as a Pacific Islander, of solid build, and was last seen wearing a red button-up shirt and jeans.
