The Transport Agency is warning motorists traveling between Auckland and Northland to expect delays after a crash closed part of State Highway One.
Police say the four-car crash happened just before 4pm on Sunday on the Brynderwyn Hills.
They say one person is dead and two others have serious injuries.
On Sunday afternoon north and south bound traffic was being diverted through Mangawhai on the east coast.
