A search for a fishing boat off Northland has been called off after the skipper contacted his wife.
The Sunniva left from Whangaroa, north of the Bay of Islands last week, and was due back on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre says the man texted on Tuesday evening to say he had been out of contact range for the past few days, but is well.
