The rail network in Wellington is again down for maintenance work this weekend.
Rail services are being replaced by buses while the work is done on Saturday.
Contractors are moving tracks, realigning overhead wires and improving signals at the main station and on the Hutt Valley line.
Project director David Gordon says the work is now more than halfway completed. The upgrade has been given new impetus by a spate of recent breakdowns.
Mr Gordon says the network will reopen in plenty of time for fans travelling to the Phoenix soccer match against Newcastle on Sunday.
