Security van guard robbed in Porirua

5:41 pm on 9 March 2010

Porirua police have arrested two men in relation to a robbery at a recreation and events centre in the city, and are looking for a third man.

A woman security guard was attacked about 9.30am on Tuesday morning while collecting a bag of money for banking from Te Rauparaha Arena.

Police believe a man walked up to the guard, snatched the money and then jumped into a stolen car driven by two associates.

They understand all three then drove to Titahi Bay where the two associates were arrested.

Police say they are now looking for Perry Ngawaka Bristow, who is a 25-year-old Pacific Islander, of medium build and tall, at 1.8m.

No one was hurt in the robbery, but the police are asking anyone who sees Mr Bristow not to approach him.

Porirua City Council spokesperson Moana Wyatt says CCTV footage of the incident has been passed to police.

Ms Wyatt will not disclose how much money was taken because of future security concerns.
