More than 1000 applications have been received for the most senior jobs in Auckland's super-city council.
Forty-five jobs have been advertised - both for the agency which will run the region's transport infrastructure and for the council itself.
They include the chief executive positions and the next two tiers of management.
A spokesperson for the Auckland Transition Agency describes the interest as healthy.
He says some of the applications are from people already working in the eight councils that currently govern Auckland.
Twenty-eight people have applied for the chief executive roles.
Candidates will be interviewed this month and next month.
