A man faces driving charges after an abandoned high speed pursuit through suburban streets in Hamilton.
Police say the chase began when the man approached a routine vehicle stop on Grey St in Hamilton East on Friday afternoon.
Sergeant Phil Ruddell of the Hamilton Strategic Traffic Unit says the driver made a U-turn and sped off.
He says a pursuit continued on to State Highway 1 between Hamilton and Cambridge, but was abandoned when speeds reached more than 150 km/h.
Police say they later found the car hidden at a Mary Church Road address, and a man hiding inside was arrested.
He faces charges of driving while disqualified, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
