Rotorua police are investigating an attack in which a woman had part of her ear bitten off.
The police say the woman had been out with friends, but was separated from them, and was assaulted when she approached three other people on the street.
She was punched, kicked, and had a section of her right ear bitten off during the attack, in Haupapa Street, shortly after 1:30am on Thursday.
Officers have found the detached part of her ear, and the woman is in hospital.
Police are still looking for her attackers.
