Major work on Wellington rail network over Easter

6:05 am on 3 April 2010

Buses will replace many of Wellington's train services over Easter as work continues on a $550 million rail upgrade.

The network will be mostly shut for the four day holiday weekend, although services were to be put on for Friday night's Super 14 rugby game at Westpac Stadium.

KiwiRail says work will take place on all lines around the region, with a particular focus on the overhead power system.

Crews will also continue work on the installation of a third main line into Wellington Railway Station.
