Voice message on Wellington buses to change

2:54 pm on 9 April 2010

An electronic bus-fare payment system, known as Snapper, will be altered on buses in Wellington on Friday evening after feedback from the public.

A voice message reminding passengers to swipe their card again as they leave the bus will be removed.

Snapper chief executive Miki Szikszai says passengers will no longer have to put up with the message every time someone gets on board.

He says it will also speed up boarding, because there will be only a short beep in future, or two beeps for child passengers.

Snapper is to make an announcement soon about expanding its services into Auckland.
