Tramper flown out from Tararua Ranges

A tramper who suffered injuries after falling down a bank was flown out of the Tararua Ranges on Saturday.

The 45 year old Wellington woman injured her hip and face when she fell about two metres down the bank, near Totara Creek Hut in Tararua Forest Park.

The 45-year-old was with with a tramping party. The alarm was raised about 6pm on Saturday.

Rescue helicopter medics say they used night-vision goggles in the rescue, winching out the woman on a stretcher.
