Police investigating the death of a farm worker found trapped in a submerged car in a canal in the Hauraki Plains are appealing for earlier sightings of the dark green Honda Accord.
The body of Lee Clint Dey, 23, was recovered from the vehicle when it was pulled from the Awaiti Canal on Monday.
The matter is being investigation by the Waikato Serious Crash Unit, which is also trying to establish where he was before the crash.
Police say initial indications suggest the car failed to stop or turn at a T-intersection alongside the canal and went straight into the water.
Mr Dey hadn't been seen on Sunday and his father had reported him missing to the police in Paeroa shortly before his car was found in the canal.
