Police in Wellington are investigating the attempted robbery and assault of a taxi driver in Johnsonville early on Sunday.
The taxi driver picked up two men from the Johnsonville taxi rank about 2.50am and during the trip they assaulted him and tried to steal his fare money.
The driver crashed into a house, sustaining injuries which were later treated by ambulance staff.
His assailants were seen running towards Frankmoore Avenue.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or
saw any suspicious activity in the area.
