Trucks OK to use bridge outer lane again

6:01 pm on 3 May 2010

Trucks are again allowed to use an outer lane on the Auckland harbour bridge.

They were banned from using the bridge's two outer lanes in July 2007, and strengthening work has been done since then.

The Transport Agency says a bylaw restriction preventing vehicles more than 13 tonnes from using southbound lane two was lifted at 5am on Sunday.

But the bylaw still prevents trucks from using southbound lane one and the Shelly Beach off-ramp; and overweight trucks and vehicles that require a permit to use the bridge are still banned from using any of the clip-on lanes.
