A former bus driver for Go Bus in Hawke's Bay has pleaded guilty in the Hastings District Court to two drink-driving-related charges.

In January police in Hastings stopped a bus on the outskirts of the city, after one of the passengers complained about the actions of the driver.

Carl Hughes, 50, failed a breath test, and a blood test taken a short time later showed an alcohol level almost four times the legal limit.

He pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a charge of dangerous driving and driving with an excess blood alcohol level and will be sentenced next month.
