The search for a man missing after an upturned boat was found in Foveaux Strait has ended with the discovery of a body.
The police in Invercargill say a fishing vessel found the boat north of Dog Island on Wednesday evening, and a man who was rescued was taken to Bluff.
He was admitted to Southland Hospital for observation.
Coastguard crews from Riverton and Bluff conducted a search for the missing man, along with five fishing vessels and two helicopters.
A body was found on Wednesday night. The matter has been referred to the Coroner.
