Rain over the weekend brought some relief to parts of Northland.
In the Kaikohe area, 48mm fell with heavy downpours in parts of the Bay of Islands. Kerikeri had 26mm.
Less than 20mm fell in Kaitaia - not enough to relieve the stress on the town's public water supply from the Awanui river.
Apart from one rainy day this month, Northland has had no significant rain since last October.
MetService says there's a low in the Tasman for the first time in months, and an easterly airflow which should bring more rain over the next few days.
