The Department of Conservation says vandals may force it to get rid of a picnic area in Southland.
It says it spends thousands of dollars each year repairing the Pourakino picnic area, at the site of the Mores top mill, north of Invercargill.
DoC says the most recent damage was done by four-wheel drive vehicles turning the grassed ground into a muddy bog.
It says one night's fun for vandals leaves it with repairs lasting several months.
