Super-council to be based in Auckland city premises

Auckland's Town Hall and the civic administration building are to be the heart of the region-wide Auckland Council which replaces eight local bodies in November this year.

The new regional mayor will move into the Town Hall offices currently occupied by Auckland City mayor John Banks.

The biggest move is for the new regional transport agency which will shift to the Waitakere City Council building in Henderson.

Policy and planning work will be centred in the North Shore City offices in Takapuna while information technology will be housed in Manukau City's main building.

The locations have been announced by the Transition Agency which is setting up the new structure.
