Auckland City Council has closed a suburban brothel in Mount Albert, after a complaint was made by a resident who was tired of clients mistakenly knocking on his front door.
The council says the resident also noticed increased traffic in the street and had trouble locating a car park.
Service request manager Chris Horan says the brothel manager has been told he is in breach of District Plan rules because nobody lives at the property, which is zoned residential.
He says the manager has been given three weeks to shut the business.
However, Mr Horan says it is possible that a resource consent could be sought to continue operating the brothel from the house.
