A man has been charged with intentional damage after leaping onto the roof of the Prime Minister's car during a protest in Christchurch on Wednesday night.
Several hundred people were outside the Isaac Theatre Royal in the central city, as John Key arrived for a public speaking engagement.
They were criticising the Government's decision to replace members of the Canterbury Regional Council with Commissioners.
Mr Key was not in his car when the man jumped onto the roof.
Police say there was significant damage to the vehicle.
