Taser probably saved a life, police say

Police in Waikato say a taser played a key role in saving the life of a Te Kuiti man.

They say they were called to Te Kuiti's main street after a 36-year-old man put his arm through a window, causing arterial bleeding.

The man was aggressive, police say, and didn't realise the extent of his injury, so officers tasered him and ambulance staff were able to take him to hospital.

They say doctors told them it's likely the man would have bled to death had he not been subdued by the taser.
