Police in Gisborne are seeking a man who escaped from the city's district court on Monday.
Allan Taare Gray, 32, escaped from the court's custody area just before 3pm.
Police say he is from the Waikato area but has local ties.
He is described as Maori, of thin to medium build and 175 centimetres tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and socks and jandles.
Police say anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact them.
