Township for sale for $1 million

The entire township of Otira in the South Island is on the market. It has a price tag of $1 million.

The 20-hectare township includes a pub, an old school, a fire-station and 18 houses.

Chistine Hennah and her husband Bill Hennah bought the pub and the township 12 years ago.

Mrs Hennah says they still want to stay in Otira, but are keen to sell the pub because they want to retire

Tourism Properties says it could be a great opportunity for someone who wants to market it as tourist town. Broker Kevin Johnson says Otira could become another Arthur's Pass stop-off or an eco-tourism venture.
