An East Coast farmer is on his way to join an International Red Cross mission in Kyrgzstan after trouble there.

At least 170 people have been killed in ethnic clashes in the south of the central Asian republic.

The Red Cross says up to 100,000 refugees have been forced across the border into Uzbekistan.
