10:03 pm on 4 July 2010

A second arrest has been made over a gang fight and shooting in Wairoa in northern Hawke's Bay last Thursday, that saw armed police rushed to the town.

A Mongrel Mob gang member, aged in his 20's, was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 40-year-old gang member was arrested and charged with the same offence on Friday.

Both men will appear in Gisborne District Court on Monday.

The Black Power gang member shot in the face in the incident has now been discharged from hospital in Hastings.

Police say Wairoa has been quiet over the weekend, with no gang troubles.

They are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
