An investigation into the death of a teenager in central Wellington centres on a party he attended on Saturday night.
The body of a young man from Porirua was found in Egmont St in the central city at 8.30am on Sunday.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham says the 18-year-old was at a party on the eighth floor of the Soho apartment building.
People attending the party have been spoken to by police, but accounting for the victim's movements has proven difficult.
A resident from the Soho apartment building has told Radio New Zealand that he saw partygoers drinking and leaning over the balcony.
Forensic experts who spent Sunday examining the apartment complex are still unable to say how the man died. The result of a post-mortem will not be known until Tuesday morning.
Inspector Basham says he is keeping an open mind as to the cause of death.
