A radio announcer in Tolaga Bay north of Gisborne is well on the way to setting a new world record for non-stop announcing.
Nikora Curtis, 59, from Uawa FM has been on the radio virtually non-stop since Thursday and has to keep going until about 1pm this Thursday to set a new record.
He's allowed a cat nap of 15 minutes every eight hours and is confident of breaking the current record.
The marathon effort is a fundraiser for the Uawa FM station.
