Wellington District Court has not received any new security staff or equipment since a man stabbed himself in a dock there last June.
This is despite a promise by Courts Minister Georgina Te Heuheu that it would be among the first recipients of $9 million of new funding for court security.
More security staff and equipment have since been directed to district courts in Lower Hutt and Porirua and the new Supreme Court.
The Ministry of Justice says security staff can be redeployed if need be.
But the Public Service Association says Wellington District Court urgently needs security staff on site.
