The brother of a man accused of shooting and injuring two police officers in Christchurch has been charged with possessing four guns, including a semi-automatic weapon.
Steven Smith, 31, is the brother of Christopher Smith, who has been charged with the attempted murder of the two officers during a shooting in Christchurch last week.
Steven Smith appeared in court on Thursday on two new joint charges with his brother relating to an alleged cannabis operation and to the possession of a .22 rifle.
However, Christopher Smith did not appear and will face those joint charges at his next scheduled appearance next week.
Steven Smith was denied bail and will reappear in court next month.
