Store manager defends liquor licence move

6:39 pm on 22 July 2010

A Manurewa fruit and vegetable store manager who has been granted a liquor licence says he has done nothing wrong.

Some residents in Clendon say the licence slipped under the radar, and are complaining that they were not properly consulted.

Store manager Tara Singh says he applied for the licence because he has a 10-year lease on the property, and was losing money running it as a fruit and vegetable store.

Mr Singh says he has rent, insurance and a family to pay for, and has followed the letter of the law.
