Four charged with theft of dead man's car

3:42 pm on 27 July 2010

Donald Stewart, 74, died from a blow to the head on 27 June. Police located his crushed car at a wreckers' yard in Auckland.

Two unemployed Hamilton men, aged 29 and 36, an unemployed 25-year-old Otorohanga woman and a 44 year-old Hamilton woman are charged with taking Mr Stewart's Peugeot and will appear in the district court on Wednesday.

Three teenagers - aged 14, 15 and 17 - have been charged with Mr Stewart's murder.

Police say that because the case of the stolen car overlaps with the homicide investigation, which is before the court, they are unable to release further details about the theft.
