Manukau gas leak sealed, roads reopened

7:12 pm on 31 July 2010

The leak from a ruptured high-pressure gas line in Manukau has been contained and a major arterial route reopened.

A car crash at the intersection of Roscommon Rd and Browns Rd caused the major leak and triggered a series of road closures and evacuations on Saturday afternoon.

The cars, one of which was wedged into the gas main, have been removed and police say no serious injuries were suffered.

The Fire Service says the all-clear has been given, and police say all streets around Roscommon Rd are now open and residents have been allowed to return home.
