Reports of the death of a New Zealand soldier in Afghanistan dominated the front pages of all the major newspapers on Thursday.

In other headlines, the New Zealand Herald says a banker at the centre of a suspected fraud has been ordered to pay $1.3 million in damages to his former employer, ANZ Bank.

The Dominion Post says Privacy Commissioner Marie Shroff is disturbed by plans to give details of unpaid fines to credit-rating agencies.

The Press reports that New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan is appalled by the behaviour of New Zealand rugby fans during Saturday's Test at Melbourne.
