The Chatham Islands is hoping to be chosen for a location for a film about a security van heist in a Scottish village.

The proposed New Zealand-UK co-production Heist in the Glen, is about two brothers who rob a Bank of Scotland security van as it passes through their village.

The producers are said to be considering filming some of the rural scenes on the Chatham Islands, where a replica of Scottish village would be built.

Chatham Islands acting mayor Alfred Preece says the council has told the production company it is interested in any filming, but has yet to hear back.

He told Morning Report the island could definitely cope with an influx of film crews and stars, as it successfully hosted a large number of people during the Millennium celebrations.
