Police in Rotorua have named a boy who was fatally stabbed on Friday night.
Tongarewa Thomas, 16, was found in the driveway of a house in Clinkard avenue in the suburb of Glenholme. He died at the scene.
Another boy, aged 15, is under arrest and has been charged with assault.
He is being held in custody and is to appear at the Rotorua Youth Court this week.
Police say the charge will be reviewed once their scene examination is completed.
