A woman accused of killing a West Coast publican is on trial at the High Court in Greymouth.

Carmel Helen Whittle, 38, a mother of two, is charged with the manslaughter of David White in July last year.

She lived across the road from his pub, the Little Wanganui Hotel, 20km south of Karamea.

Whittle is accused of punching him during an argument over an incident earlier that evening when she'd left her two sons, aged four and 14 years, home alone.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
