Postie loses job over Facebook comments

The Employment Relations Authority has declined to give an Auckland postman his job back after he made disparaging comments about New Zealand Post and a colleague on two Facebook sites.

Lyndon Hohaia said he set up the two pages, PostieLad and PostieLand, as a laugh for family and friends and did not know they could be read by the public.

New Zealand Post fired Mr Hohaia in June claiming his comments, some of which were of a sexual nature, humiliated a collegue and brought the company into disrepute.

The authority has decided not to give Mr Hohaia his job back until a full investigation of his case for personal grievance starts in three weeks.
