The next stage to complete the Waikato Expressway - design work on the Hamilton section of the road between Ngaruawahia and Tamahere - has been awarded.
The preliminary work will cost nearly $7 million dollars and will take three years.
The Hamilton section is one of 10, that will make up the 102km expressway, and the eventual four-lane road between Bombay and Cambridge.
Three stages have already been finished, and one is under construction.
The Government says the latest contract means the project is still on target to be completed by 2019.
The total cost of the expressway is expected to be about $2.4 billion dollars.
