Help wanted by Grey Power for elderly electricity customers

6:05 am on 29 August 2010

Grey Power is renewing calls for the Government to give struggling electricity customers more help.

State owned Meridian Energy has announced a net profit double what it made last year.

Grey Power board member Molly Mellish claims Meridian intends to raise prices further when a price freeze ends in October, but the company won't say how much.

Grey Power says price rises means more hardship to older New Zealanders.

The organisation is urging the Government to offer specific help to those who are genuinely struggling.
